TeamPages in Your Community

June 13th, 2008

This past week, the team here ventured out into the cold and battled the elements to host a BBQ for the University of Victoria Intramural program. You wouldn’t think the rain, wind and temperature would play much of a factor in the middle of June but as you can see from the picture below, we were forced to find other ways of staying warm…

Mike Staying Warm

This event was the first of many we are planning for the summer.  So if your club is in the greater Vancouver area and has an upcoming tournament or event, send us an email or give us a call and we’ll supply the hot dogs and refreshments.  Until then, make sure to pack some extra layers, because you never know when you’re going to get blind sided by a hail storm (even if it is the middle of June).

Another Tool for League Admins

June 5th, 2008

This past week we improved the multi-game scheduling tool for league administrators. The most notable new feature is the versatile schedule importer. This tool allows you to upload an entire season to the multi-game scheduler, then provides the flexibility needed to make final changes before posting it to the league page. Click the link below and take a look at a screenshot:

I may be biased but it is much easier to use. I hope you like it too.

If you’re not a league administrator with TeamPages yet, and you would like to try out this new TeamPages feature, give us a call at 1-800-500-7203 or email talk-to-us@teampages.com.

Temporary Site Outage

June 4th, 2008

We apologize for the temporary site outage earlier today. All of our hosting services were down, but our IT group worked as quickly as they could to get it back up . We apologize for any inconvenience it caused.

New Feature: Baseball Stats

May 29th, 2008

Many of our members have asked for this after testing out our soccer, basketball and hockey stats. Give baseball stats a try and let us know what you and your team think; we’re always eager to hear about ways to improve our features, especially the newly released ones.

Our forums are a great place to post your comments and let others build on them. This often generates great ideas that we’ve never heard or thought of. So what are you waiting for? Get your ideas heard, and let’s make TeamPages easier and more fun together.

New Features on TeamPages

May 16th, 2008

We’ve recently added the ability to enter player stats on TeamPages!

Where to find them:

The first sports to try out this new feature include soccer, basketball, hockey and lacrosse. Baseball and Softball are in the works, so look out for them sometime this month.

How to use them:

To edit or add new game statistics click the “edit scores and statistics” link next to recently played games. Once entered, you can view all player stats for the season by clicking the “stats” link located in the player section of your TeamPage. Here is a screen shot of what you’re getting.

In addition to statistics, we have made a few tweaks and added more functionality to your TeamPage. These include:

  • printable views of schedules and roster lists
  • event photo albums that automatically link to your TeamPage
  • easier ways to find your friends on TeamPages
  • the ability to delete teams

It’s our goal to continuously make TeamPages more fun and useful, so if you have any feedback about these or any other features on TeamPages, please don’t hesitate to send us an email to support@teampages.com or call us directly at 1-800-500-7203.

The Olympic Flame: from Custom to Controversy

April 11th, 2008

torch-run.jpg

The torch lighting ceremony is one that has existed since the ancient Olympics. This ceremony was much less complex than that of today’s. While we now have thousands of runners, back up flames, “flame attendants’ and have even sent the flame through a radio wave, the original ceremony consisted of the lighting of a flame which would be maintained for the duration of the games. It was not until the controversial Berlin Olympics of 1936 that the running of the torch was introduced to the ceremony. It was decided then that a torch should be lit in Athens and escorted to the hosting country , by whatever means possible (this is where the sending of a flame via radio wave came from), to ignite the Olympic flame.
